Soumya doused herself and her two daughters Gayathri,3, and Akshara with Kerosene and locked the main door of the house.
Soumya took hold of Akshara and set fire to herself. Gayathri, ran into an adjacent room after seeing her mother and sister engulfed in flames.
On noticing the smoke emanating from the house, the neighbours broke a small part of the roof and used water to put off the flames.
Due to Gayathri's presence of mind, she was saved, but her mother and sister died on the spot due to severe burns.
