Police has arrested a youth, Banmali Barik, for raping and killing a visually challenged girl near Puri on Wednesday.
Police said, Barik was the lone assailant and rape was the prime motive.
When the girl resisted, the accused first tried to strangulate her. He then inserted a rod into her private parts multiple times to ensure that she is dead.
Police said the girl cried for help but nobody was around.
The accused killed the girl to ensure she cannot register a complaint.
Preliminary autospy report has attributed the girl's death to excessive internal bleeding.
