Minor rape victim's tongue chopped off in Pratapgarh

In a shocking incident, a minor gangrape survivor’s tongue was chopped weeks before she was to give testimony in the court.

The report added that the minor has been gangraped on 22 January and was to appear in court on 24 July to give her testimony. The police claim that the main accused in the case is in jail but two others in the case are absconding.

The girl is in a serious condition in the hospital. The police are investigating the case.

The girl’s family had claimed that they were facing pressure to withdraw the case. 

Victims of rape in India are under constant pressure to change or withdraw their statement and if they choose to fight, they face the risk of physical violence once again.
