Vihari Poddar, wife of textile tycoon and Siyaram Silk Mills director Abhishek Poddar, was arrested for trying to smuggle jewellery worth Rs 2.35 crore.
The Managing Director of the Singapore-based Vihari Jewels was detained at Mumbai Airport.
The officials found diamond-studded gold jewellery in Vihari's luggage and she was also carrying some more jewellery in her underwear.
During her interrogation, she also confessed that she had made around 10 such trips in the past few months.
Based on her confessions, the authorities have raided two of her shops and seized jewellery worth around Rs 4 crore. Her shops have been sealed pending an inquiry.
The court has remanded her in 14-day judicial custody.
