Man allegedly kills wife, posts photo of body on Facebook

A Florida man apparently fatally shot his wife, 26-year-old Jennifer Alfonso, in their home while her 10-year-old daughter was upstairs — and then posted a grisly photo of her body and a confession on his Facebook page

Derek Medina, 31, surrendered to authorities Thursday morning, Miami-Dade police said.

The  post on his Facebook page claimed his wife was beating him. “I’m going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys take care Facebook people you will see me in the news.

“My wife was punching me and I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse so I did what I did I hope u understand me,” the post added.

The photo posted on Medina’s Facebook page showed a woman in black tights slumped over on her back. Her knees were bent awkwardly and her cheek and arm were bloody. A caption read: “RIP Jennifer Alfonso.

Police went to the couple’s home and found Alfonso’s body. The young girl, Alfonso's daughter from a previous relationship, was unharmed.

 Medina was in custody, and charges were pending, police said, noting that their investigation continues.

Medina and Alfonso were married for a second time in April 2012, reports said.
