An 11-year old girl was set on fire on Wednesday in Salkia in Howrah district.
The accused tried to rape the girl when she went out of her house to relieve herself. When she resisted and threatened to reveal his identity, the accused poured kerosene over her and set her on fire.
Police have arrested a youth as the prime suspect.
The minor was admitted with 70 per cent burn injuries. Yesterday(Sunday) morning, she succumbed to her injuries.
